Incredible playing seems to only be available in aud is there a SBD available? Dying to get SDB at least of this fragment. In eyes they quickly drop what was the standard outro jam and then go into space with Phil then pounding and a feeling groovy jam Trucking into nobody's fault amazing too. Incredible inventive playing shows you how good these guys were in all of 1973. Now can I get a SBD please please if anyone is listening?

Ha! I call this jam "The Phil Zone" (putting that well-known Deadhead expression to good use!)....a nice long protracted bass solo that really highlights the stereo effects he had on that bass and the Wall of Sound; not sure I've ever heard it demonstrated so clearly on a soundboard (or anything else!). Very cool! If you didn't know better, you might think that a second bass was joining him for certain bass chords. Definitely make sure you're sitting in the middle of the speakers when you listen to this one.

If you have a copy of this show that has more than whats available here, you're in possession of something pretty rare. You should share it/upload it.

I haven't heard this Phil jam in years until tonight. Back when I used to tape the Grateful Dead hour every weekend, this was one of the faithfully rewound highlights.
This show is just, like, sitting in the vault? Jesus Christ, where's the rest of this tape??

This was played at Jerry Garcia's Memorial at DGP on 08/13/95. It was selected along with the Spectrum 09/21/72 Dark Star & several choice cuts selected by David Gans & Dick Latvala RIP. It remains one of my all time favorite jams. Check out Dicks Picks 28 the jazzy jamming style is similar to this. Isn't graet to be a Deadhead?

Almost didn't listen..... Beautiful...... Never heard Phil go off like that with the dead, if there is more out there they are far and few between sadly. At least I have never heard them. The closest is Phil's playing now.

Arc-12 asked about the stereo sound of Phil's bass.
When they used the wall of sound each string (back then he only played a 4 string alembic i believe) was wired to a different row of bass speakers so the sound would come from different areas. The better recording were able to capture this phenomenon.

Phil's sound is awesome! What is going on with the stereo of his bass. It sounds like he has some strings panned left and some right. Anyone know?
Like Craw said, this is a great fragment. Wish there was more.
